What is Dihydroberberine ?
Dihydroberberine, also known as dihydroberbine or 9,10-Dimethoxy-6,8-dihydro-5H-[1,3]dioxolo[4,5-g]isoquinolino[3,2-a]isoquinoline, is a naturally occurring isoquinoline alkaloid. Dihydroberberine is derived from plants such as Berberis. It can be found in certain herbal medicines or extracted through specific chemical processes.
Pharmacological Effects
Anti-inflammatory Activity: Dihydroberberine can inhibit the TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB signaling pathway, reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines and immunoglobulins, thereby exhibiting anti-inflammatory effects.
Anti-atherosclerotic Activity: By regulating certain signaling pathways and reducing the expression of related proteins, Dihydroberberine contributes to the prevention of atherosclerosis.
Hypolipidemic Activity: Dihydroberberine has been shown to lower blood lipids, which is beneficial for cardiovascular health.
Antitumor Activity: Dihydroberberine can inhibit the proliferation and colony formation of cancer cells, block the cell cycle in the G1 phase, and induce apoptosis. It has synergistic effects with certain anticancer drugs, such as Sunitinib, in enhancing the sensitivity of lung cancer cells to treatment.
Storage Conditions
Dihydroberberine should be stored in a dry, airtight, light-protected, and low-temperature environment (0-10°C) to ensure its stability and effectiveness.
