Copper peptide, also known as copper tripeptide-1 or GHK-Cu, is a chemical compound with a molecular formula of C14H24N6O4 (for the peptide part) and sometimes represented as C14H22CuN6O4 when referring to the copper complex.
Structure and Composition
Copper peptide is a complex of glycyl histidine tripeptide (GHK) and copper ions.
GHK itself is a small peptide mixture produced during protein degradation.
In the GHK-Cu complex, the copper ion interacts with the imidazole ring of the histidine side chain and other nitrogen atoms from glycine and the peptide bond.
Functions and Applications
